Joan Crawford’s Tightrope: Drop Anxiety in 5

Here again.

Another year nearly over with the list of Un-Dones longer than the list of Get-Dones.

Fitness goals dropped by March and career benchmarks moved faster than a picosec.

The GBA (gut-brain axis) starts to fray as the shadows of anxiety lurk around the unmet or half-met goals set way back in January.

This type of anxiety originates from fear. Emotional products of thoughts of failure imbalance the root chakra, which regulates stability.

Like a circus tightrope, nerve fibers can wear thin when carrying excess stress. This curtails neural and synaptic communication between the gut and brain stem that regulates anxiety.

Here are five ways to balance on a tight rope. According to the fraught faces of Joan Crawford in Berserk (1967).

Make The A List

Account for accomplishments made with a list. This process reduces the focus on goals not done, thus decreasing anxious thoughts. The dopaminergic reward system likes it, leptin maintains balance and leaves a satisfied feeling for fun to be had.

Snooze The Deadline

Moving dates is like changing sheets- a little cumbersome but doable. A due date that will not be met increases negative thinking, which causes loss of sleep. Loss of needed sleep increases appetite through the increased production of ghrelin. So you’ll be tired and also eat more. Prioritize needs over wants. Then check off blissful rest.

Redesign the Drawing Room

Re-strategize and re-prioritize because goals set 12 months ago might not be in tune with you anymore. Focus improves memory and reduces anxiety. Ten minutes of candle meditation centers the thought process.

Let it Burn

Burn any contract that you made with yourself that is not working for you anymore. Learn from why those goals were not met. Maybe they are not your goals, but someone else’s. This is cathartic, decreases amygdala activity, and alleviates anxiety weight more than anything.

Find A Blank Space

Stop thinking about it. Spending a lot of cognitive ATP on lack of accomplishments feeds negative thinking loops. This activity feeds anxiety-linked neurodegeneration. Inner negativity usually reflects in party convos. You definitely don’t want to be a grinch at the NYE festivities.

Bottom Line

A year can begin whenever you want. March 28th, 2024-March 28,2025 also counts. Let’s not collapse the circus tents for things that can be re-evaluated and re-arranged.
