Fall Lab Style: For the Masks We Wear

We all wear masks. For work, play, and home. Unlike Instagram filters, masks are worn to help us get through the day. Through life. Polite when we are vexed or confident when we are scared. Patterns and colors help camouflage us in nature or stand out in society. The clothing we choose supports our emotions and creativity. Bright splashes to accent earthy tones and intricate designs change us into Fall like the leaves of a tree.

Pattern and texture play.

Illustrator Daniel Clowes designed Dress Code for Hermès depicting a portrait gallery. Robots, space people and Marie Antoinette types keep are fun companions when balancing deadlines with Fall festivities. This is from their double-sided collection which gives a choice of color depending on the mood… or mask to be worn.

Dress

Nobody does a patterned dress like Marimekko. Their bold and positive prints are wearable art, boosting the self-expression and confidence of the wearer. Dating back to 1951, Marimekko hasn't failed to provide dresses that are comfortable, stylish and, most importantly, with pockets. This one can be belted or worn loose.

Shoes

Comfortable go-with-everything clogs are essential for easing into the change in season. Worn with socks adds individual style for whichever mask worn that day. Solid navy for a safe look or polka dots to play up the wavy pattern- on the dress or in the brain.
